AARP lobbies for senior citizen benefits at the national, statewide and local level and is a social group with service to others in mind. It meets 9:30 a.m. to noon the second Monday at the Community Room at the Fernandina Beach Police Department, 1525 Lime St. Call John Megna at 277-2143.

Vendors sought for Village Fair Days
New Milford Village Fair Days Committee has announced it is seeking vendors for the 2009 Village Fair Days.Arts, crafts and antiques vendors, as well as businesses, organizations, churches, clubs and food vendors are invited to participate in the July 24-25 event.
Athol could be called 'Garden Town'
ATHOL - Where they will be and what form they will take is still being worked out, but the Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, in collaboration with several community organizations, hopes to build gardens in town.

The Club of the Year application deadline has been extended to December 12, 2008. Applications must be postmarked no later than December 12, 2008. If you're Jewish, love to ride motorcycles and live in Connecticut, the Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance (JMA) wants you. Formed nearly five years ago, the non-profit JMA has already grown to include 1500 members spread out among the 24 clubs worldwide that fall under its umbrella.
Ex-Red Lawless named new Legends manager
Former major-league player and veteran minor-league manager Tom Lawless was named the new manager of the Lexington Legends on Wednesday. The Legends' parent club, the Houston Astros, announced the move. Lawless replaces Gregg Langbehn, who managed the Legends the past two seasons. Langbehn was hired last month to manage the Traverse City (Mich.) Beach Bums of the independent ...

Downtown El Reno will be bustling with Christmas fun Thurs-day evening. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with an old-fashioned Christ-mas parade. Around 50 organizations have signed up to participate.
